Scholarship program.
From 2000 to 2011, the Rainsville Chamber of Commerce has awarded
$39,100 in college/trade school scholarship funds to Plainview High
School seniors. Scholarships will be awarded again in May 2012. More.
Retail promotions. The Chamber
partners with member gift shops and other retailers each fall to
promote the Rainsville Holiday Open House. Other "shop local"
promotions may be presented through the year.
Rainsville Person of the Year award. The Rainsville Chamber of Commerce honors an outstanding citizen each January.
Carol Laney was chosen for the 2012 award, and presented with it at the
Chamber's annual meeting on January 19, 2012. Bryan Thomas was the 2011
Rainsville Person of the Year.
The deadline for nominations for the 2012 Rainsville Person of the Year
award is December 16, 2011. Nominations should be submitted in the form
of a letter to the
Rainsville Chamber. The Chamber board will make its selection before
the .

Alabama Advantage. The Chamber participates in the state's mobile retiree recruitment program. Information packets are often sent to retirees who are considering relocation to northeast Alabama.
Storm recovery fund / survivor aid program.
Rainsville and many of its neighbors in adjacent communities were hit
hard by the April 27, 2011 tornado outbreak. Thirty three lives were
lost in DeKalb County that day. Hundreds of homes, vehicles, and other
properties were destroyed or severely damaged.
The Rainsville Chamber has had the opportunity to help some families who lost all, or most, of their possessions in the storms. More.
Chamber events. The
Chamber sponsors a number of events throughout the year including the
annual Sand Mountain Dessert Bake-Off each November, the annual
Christmas at the Crossroads each December, the Chamber of Commerce's
Annual Meeting each January, and the annual Administrative
Professionals Day Luncheon each April. It sponsors A Day at the Capitol
every other spring.
Networking events. Member businesses may host a
Business After Hours, Business Breakfast or Business Brunch, etc. The
Chamber will help promote the event through mailouts, newspaper
articles, the online calendar
and email-based communications. Hosting or attending a networking event
is a good way to meet and fellowship with potential clients.
