Host a Rainsville Business After Hours
By Tim Eberhart, executive directorRainsville Chamber of Commerce
Newspaper column for June 4, 2010 edition
First, I have some Rainsville business news I would like to share. A couple of our member businesses are celebrating big birthdays in June.
Penny's From Heaven Spa was founded on, or around, June 1, 2001. So, Penny's, which has been voted the favorite spa in DeKalb County two years in a row, is now nine years old.
A year before Penny's opened, Rainsville Technology Inc (RTI) was founded in June of 2000. Happy 10th birthday, RTI.
Now, what if your business had an opportunity to showcase its products or services, and its facilities to potential new customers? What if your business could provide an opportunity for fellow business people, community leaders, and other citizens to get together for fellowship and food in a relaxed, after-work atmosphere?
It is easy to do both when you host a Rainsville Business After Hours. I am looking for two or three Rainsville businesses that would each like to host one sometime between July and October. Contact me right away and you and I will go ahead and set the dates.
How does a Rainsville Business After Hours work?
The host, which must be a member of the Rainsville Chamber of Commerce, should provide refreshments such as finger foods or hors d-oeuvres. It may plan a short program to showcase its products or services. Rainsville Business After Hours is basically an open house, so the cost of the event would depend on what the host wanted to do in regard to the food.
The Chamber will promote the event by mailing invitations to about 200 businesses and public officials. The event will also be promoted by email, and I will talk about it in my weekly column. If the business keeps a customer database, it would probably be good to send out invitation to those folks as well.
It would be fine if two or three member businesses that are side by side wanted to co-host a Rainsville Business After Hours. Or, if a business wanted to host one at a meeting site away from their business, such as the Tom Bevill Enrichment Center, it could be arranged.
The Chamber office could serve as an RSVP center if you would like to require that people RSVP.
