Keep up the good work

Next week, if you get the chance, be nice to a volunteer, or an administrative professional, or both.
Why? Next week is National Volunteer Week. It is also National Administrative Professionals Week.
Administrative professionals deserve accolades for the role they play in the success of the businesses they serve. Supervisors, managers, and CEOs need to remember that next week, and all year round.
Similarly, volunteers-those dedicated individuals who lend their time, energy, and talents to serve the community-deserve recognition for the valuable services they provide.
Without volunteers, many of the things we take for granted would not be possible. For example, take a look at the big annual festivals around DeKalb County such as the Potato Festival, the Crossroads Freedom Festival, UFO Days, and the Boom Days festival. Each one takes dozens of volunteers who collectively give hundreds of hours of their time.
From Sunday school teachers to scout leaders, from those who help out at the hospital to those who visit inmates at the jail, volunteers are amazing people.
I have seen many volunteers in action recently. Our Chamber's board of directors is made up of volunteers who help carry out our events and programs such as our Administrative Professionals Day Luncheon which is coming up next Wednesday, April 21st. Collectively, the board members have already put in many hours of planning, and there are still five days to go.
By the way, tickets are still available for the luncheon. Contact me today or Monday if you would like to attend or treat your administrative professional to a special event.
The Rainsville Civitan Club includes some volunteers who are currently working to organize and promote an important fundraiser. The club will host the Carson & Barnes Circus on Monday, April 26 hoping to raise money to help make some improvements in the Rainsville City Park, and for ongoing Civitan causes such as developmental disabilities research.
