I would like to invite everyone to a variety of spring events in Rainsville. Some of the highlights of these events will include tractors on display, a fashion show, and a live performance by some prancing ponies.

First, I would like to invite everyone to our town on Saturday, March 20th, and Sunday, March 21st for the 27th Annual Northeast Alabama Home & Garden Show. The show’s volunteers put in a great deal of work each March to carry out the event, so do not miss it. Lawn tractors, furniture, home improvement products and much more will be on display. Admission will be free, and there will be dozens of valuable door prizes.

Second, an invitation goes out to our members that have brochures, flyers or coupons they would like to include at the Chamber’s home & garden show booth.

Third, the Chamber’s own Administrative Professionals Day Luncheon is slated for Wednesday, April 21st. We have decided on a jungle/safari theme, and the entertainment this year will be a fashion show. A catered lunch will be served, and there will be many door prizes included a vacation package worth at least $1,200.

Fourth, the Rainsville Civitan Club will host the Carson & Barnes Circus on Monday, April 26th. The afternoon and evening shows will feature performing elephants and prancing ponies, along with aerial trapeze and high-wire acts, motorcycle acrobatic teams, clowns, and much more.

Carson & Barnes has the largest traveling zoo in the USA, and everyone is invited—free of charge on circus morning—to watch the animals arrive, be watered and fed, and to watch the elephants help put up the huge red tent.

Fifth, member businesses are invited to consider hosting a Rainsville Business After Hours this spring or summer. After Hours is a networking event where people can fellowship with potential clients and community leaders in a relaxed, after work setting. The host provides refreshments and may provide a short presentation about their business’s products or services.

Sixth, the Rainsville-area businesses that are not already members of the Chamber are invited to join this spring. We currently have 124 businesses in the coalition, 105 of which have stores or offices in the Rainsville city limits. Sixteen members are from outside of Rainsville, and three are home-based businesses. For more information or a membership application, contact me by email or call me at 638-7800.
